Computer Science Intern Flexible schedule designed to fit around your academic commitments Are you a tech-savvy problem solver who loves coding, data analysis, and exploring AI to improve real-world utility systems? What You'll Do Assist with field data collection and verification for engineering systems Analyze and maintain network, instrumentation, and control data Prepare reports, presentations, and data for planning or design projects Develop and test AI/automation solutions to improve workflows and efficiency Support database administration, scripting, and low-code tool integration Contribute to pilot projects and documentation for AI-driven process improvements Complete City training modules What You Bring Pursuing a B.S. in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or Electrical Engineering Technology Minimum two years of college completed Curious, innovative, and eager to apply AI and automation in real-world projects Strong communication skills and ability to work with engineers, contractors, and utility staff Interest in analyzing systems, data pipelines, and operational workflows Knowledge & Skills Familiarity with AI concepts: Large Language Models (LLMs), AI assistants, AI agents, prompt engineering Basic scripting/programming (Python, JavaScript, or similar) Experience with databases, Excel, or other data analysis tools Ability to interpret technical instructions, diagrams, and engineering data Strong problem-solving, critical thinking, and attention to detail Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously Why Work for the City of Fort Wayne Gain hands-on experience applying AI, coding, and data analysis to support municipal utility systems while learning from experienced engineers. Requirements
