About The Position

Energy Engineering Intern 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM // Flexible schedule designed to fit around your academic commitments Are you an analytical, curious engineering student ready to apply your skills to real-world energy systems? What You'll Do Work alongside professional engineers and interns in Fort Wayne's Utility Energy Engineering & Sustainability Services. This internship offers both office and field experience, exposing you to energy systems, sustainable infrastructure, treatment facilities, dams, and reservoirs. Key Responsibilities Assist with field reconnaissance and data collection for energy projects Support preliminary report preparation and field verification Analyze energy data using Excel and pivot tables Conduct research, maintain data tracking systems, and organize files Complete required City training modules What You Bring Pursuing a degree in Electrical or Energy Engineering or Electrical/Energy Engineering Technology Minimum of two years of college completed Curious, detail-oriented, proactive, and able to work collaboratively Preferred Certifications Valid Indiana Driver's License, or Valid driver's license with certified driving record if using a City vehicle Skills & Knowledge Strong analytical, problem-solving, and data interpretation skills Ability to read and apply technical information, diagrams, and calculations Effective verbal and written communication Ability to manage multiple tasks and adapt to changing priorities Why Work for the City of Fort Wayne Gain hands-on experience with energy systems and sustainability projects while learning from professional engineers. Requirements

  • Pursuing a degree in Electrical or Energy Engineering or Electrical/Energy Engineering Technology
  • Minimum of two years of college completed
  • Curious, detail-oriented, proactive, and able to work collaboratively
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and data interpretation skills
  • Ability to read and apply technical information, diagrams, and calculations
  • Effective verbal and written communication
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and adapt to changing priorities
