About The Position

The Texas Advanced Computing Center (TACC) at The University of Texas at Austin is one of the leading supercomputing centers in the world, supporting advances in computational research by thousands of researchers and students. TACC staff help researchers and educators use advanced computing, visualization, and storage technologies effectively and conduct research and development to make these technologies more powerful, reliable, and easier to use. The position will work with the EPIC team to recruit and support educators, schools, districts and professional development providers to engage them in EPIC/WeTeach_CS projects and initiatives.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree with at least 5 years of experience in program administration or program coordination.
  • Knowledge of K-12 state education standards, policies, and programs of study, particularly for the state of Texas, related to computer science and adjacent topics.
  • Connections with and awareness of Texas districts and education service centers in numerous geographic regions.
  • Demonstrated track record of developing, managing, and maintaining programmatic relationships.
  • Ability to foster open and constructive dialogues with educators, promoting understanding and collaboration on topics related to effective pedagogy, differentiated instruction, belonging in STEM, embracing differences, and broadening participation in computing education.
  • Dynamic communicator capable of analyzing complex, multifaceted projects and distilling key highlights for an external audience.
  • Ability to navigate a wide variety of internal and external relationships with grace and decorum.
  • Proficiency in working with the Google and Microsoft Office suites and ability to quickly learn how to use other communication and productivity tools.
  • Ability to manage a project with responsibilities shared across internal and external team members; ability to work effectively under pressure and with tight timelines; flexibility and ability to continuously improve methods and procedures.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability and willingness to travel up to 25% time (All travel costs are covered by The University of Texas at Austin)
  • Ability and willingness to shift work schedule to support or manage professional learning in afternoons, evenings, and weekends to accommodate teacher participants.
  • Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with WeTeach_CS and TACC professional development programs and initiatives.
  • Experience recruiting educators and districts to participate in STEM and computer science programs.
  • Teacher certification in CS 8-12 (TExES 241, PRAXIS 5652, or equivalent).
  • Experience teaching K-12 computer science, artificial intelligence, or cybersecurity.
  • Experience facilitating professional development.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate recruitment efforts to increase participation of educators, schools, and districts in EPIC professional development programs.
  • Represent EPIC at state and national meetings and conferences, promoting EPIC’s mission, resources, and expertise.
  • Assist with program activities, structure, and daily operations.
  • Provide leadership across the EPIC educator community through effective communications and nurturing communities of practice related to EPIC’s professional development programs.
