About The Position

A Computer Operator analyzes existing or proposed systems, designs data
processing programs and related procedures to process data, and uses a
multi-step process (i.e.., system investigation, analysis, design,
implementation, and maintenance) to bring new or changed systems to meet
customer's requirements.

Employee will be responsible for performing the following functions/duties:

Requirements

• Computer Operator IV: Vocational/technical or military equivalent training beyond high school and a minimum of seven years of job-related experience are required for this position.
• Computer Operator III: Vocational/technical or military equivalent training beyond high school and a minimum of five years of job-related experience are required for this position.
• Computer Operator II: Vocational/technical or military equivalent training beyond high school and a minimum of three years of job-related experience are required for this position.
• Demonstrated working knowledge of computer systems and integrated software application programs
• Excellent communication and analytical skills
• Good planning/organizational skills
• Ability to work under deadlines

Responsibilities

• Comply with computer operation policy, standards, and procedures
• Ensure general guidelines and technical standards are being met
• Interpret program requirements, audit auxiliary peripheral units to ascertain correctness of input data, and check condition and arrangement of tapes
• Coordinate inputs/data in support of meeting contractual requirements
• Compile programs for programmers
• Organize computer input and output of data
• Investigate and locate source of non-standard irregularities
• Analyze and recover program operations in complex error situations
• Provide support to investigate and troubleshoot problems in operational hardware and software and develop solutions for issues discovered
• Write minor operational programs
• Provide technical support to computer users and organize sequence of events in computer operation cycle
• Provide general maintenance and installation support of computer equipment
• Establish and maintain a filing system of databases for tracking and inventory of database information
• Provide direct customer interface to identify and support database requirements
• Design modifications to current interface to identify and support database requirements
• Develop, process, and submit data reports for technical presentations and meetings
• Provide work direction to subordinate work unit personnel
• Perform other job-related duties, as required
