About The Position

Acuity is seeking a Computer Operator to handle the operation of the computer and all peripheral equipment to assure optimum throughput of both online and batch jobs. This role is required to work 2nd shift hours (Monday-Friday 3pm-11pm). This role is also responsible for building security of corporate headquarters on occasional weekends. Internal deadline to apply: February 19th, 2026 ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Operate the system hardware. Knowledge of computer hardware and software including, but not limited to, MVS mainframe, Zeke/Zena scheduling, Xerox Highspeed printers. Monitor system performance to assure compliance with uptime standards. Check results of processed jobs. Contact proper personnel to assist in software or hardware problem resolution. Follow the batch processing schedule and document the successful/unsuccessful completion of events. Work with Tech Support on fixing system related problems. Stay current on all changes to both hardware and software. Deliver output to the proper locations. Handle basic maintenance and cleaning of the equipment. Notify Job Scheduler or Computer Operations Manager of any problems; provide input to improve the operating efficiency of the data center. Handle the problem reporting system after hours. Act as building security on weekends. Answer telephones. Act as the Help Desk after hours and on weekends. Regular and predictable attendance. Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Associate Degree majoring in MIS or Computer Operations with a high degree of accomplishment.
  • 0-2 years in Information Systems including some time or all of this time in Computer Operations is preferred.
  • Ability to solve problems in an analytical way.
  • Good oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision during the night and weekend hours.
  • Ability to lift boxes weighing 40 pounds.
  • Ability to complete building security rounds twice per shift.
