Although housed in the DLI Commissioners Office, GOCS has its own functions. MISSION STATEMENT: The Governor's Office of Community Service (GOCS) exists to expand national service and community volunteerism across Montana. GOCS is a state service commission responsible for administering federal funding for AmeriCorps State programs in Montana and coordinating with other AmeriCorps programs such as National Directs, VISTA, and NCCC. GOCS is led by a Governor-appointed Director and is supported by a fifteen-member Commission on Community Service. GOCS partners with all streams of AmeriCorps service programs and community-based organizations to meet the objectives and goals of the state service plan.
