Compliance Specialist This is a temporary position and is not guaranteed to convert to a permanent role. Candidates should be comfortable with a short-term assignment. Salary: $80,000.00 Position expires: 4/24/2026 General Description and Classification Standards Conducts inspections and reviews of concession operations and practices to assure compliance with applicable FDA, health department, state, and federal regulations and with the terms of contractual agreements with the Airport. Investigates complaints. Reviews operating reports, advertising materials, signage, and other materials to assure compliance with agreements. Supervision Received Performs work under general supervision of a manager or director in Airport Concessions. Essential Duties & Responsibilities These are typical responsibilities for this position and should not be construed as exclusive or all inclusive. May perform other duties as assigned. Conducts quality assurance inspections for food and beverage locations to ensure compliance with health department and/or FDA regulations, with terms of contracts and agreements, and for acceptable appearance and operational effectiveness. Conducts pest control inspections on all food service and retail facilities to ensure compliance with the concessionaires lease agreement, health department regulations, and compliance standards of the Department of Aviation. Conducts TSA prohibited item audit to ensure compliance with TSA regulations. Prepares semi-annual performance reviews for each food and beverage concessionaire. Investigates and responds to customer complaints about concessions; discusses issue with concession mananger; determines solution and responds to customer as needed. Meets with Concessionaires and owners to understand and discuss their store operations. Reviews, approves or disapproves Market Basket Pricing or other business changes submitted by Concessionaires for price increases or new items to be sold within the Airport for consistency and compliance with lease agreement. Maintains inspection and complaint reports for future reference and for incorporation into periodic conessionaire meetings. Decision Making Position works within the limits of legal and regulatory inspection and operating requirements and Airport policy, but is free to set own schedule and work sequences. Leadership Provided None. May oversee temporary or contract workers as needed. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities This is a partial listing of necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities required to perform the job successfully. It is not an exhaustive list. Knowledge of fundamentals of food service and retail businesses; knowledge of rules and regulations outlined in the FDA Food Code, State of Georgia codes, and the Clayton County Health Department regulations; some knowledge of typical contractual language as applied to retail space. Excellent oral and written communication skills; good organization and recordkeeping skills. Ability to plan work schedules and sequences to meet oversight requirements; to interact in a professional manner with concession staff and management; to explain concerns or issues clearly and objectively; to negotiate resolutions of operating issues. Qualifications Minimum Qualifications Education and Experience Bachelor’s degree in an appropriate area, including environmental science, public health, business, restaurant management or related area. (Equivalent professional experience may be considered for substitution for the required degree on an exception basis.) Two to three years of related inspection or compliance experience. Preferred Education & Experience Bachelor’s degree in an appropriate area, including environmental science, public health, business, restaurant management or related area. Three years of experience in conducting public health or similar inspections and audits. Licensures and Certifications None required. FDA Standardization, HACCP Training, ServSafe Training, AAAE, ACI and Georgia Restaurant Association are highly desirable licensures and certifications.
