About The Position

The Oregon State Police in Salem, Oregon is hiring for one (1) Full-Time, Permanent Compliance Specialist 2 – Law Enforcement Data Systems position. This is an in-office position without the opportunity for a remote or hybrid work schedule. Requirements

  • Four years experience doing administrative research that included compiling and evaluating facts to recommend management action, or decide compliance with program guidelines and regulations.
  • Two of the four years must be above the technical support level.
  • Note: college-level course work may substitute for experience on the basis of 45-quarter units per year, up to a maximum of three years.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience reviewing and analyzing Criminal Justice Information Systems (CJIS) policiesand rules.
  • Demonstrated ability in evaluating documents, procedures, reports, systems, or conditions to decide compliance with State and Federal program requirements by applying laws, rules, and policies.
  • Ability to identify training needs to gain compliance or improve program operations.
  • Experience with routine contact by telephone, in person, letters and email with agency personnel, colleagues, and the public, to gather, share, and clarify policy information.
  • Ability to evaluate and analyze information to determine compliance.

Responsibilities

  • In this position, you will develop and maintain program documents and audit functions to ensure user compliance in support of the overall Criminal Justice Information Systems (CJIS) Audit & Quality Control Programs, specifically in the areas of non-criminal justice users.
  • You will also work in coordination with other audit and training staff and management, monitor and review the program’s effect.
  • As a critical member of the CJIS team, you will ensure compliance, training, and outreach to the user community in support of CJIS’ mission.
  • In this position, you will investigate complaints of system misuse or other alleged violations from system users or private citizens, make findings of fact, and take or recommend corrective action.
  • You will represent the CJIS Division at various meetings and user events.
