About The Position

Manager, Compliance Privacy Advisor The Capital One Privacy Compliance & Risk team is seeking a Manager, Compliance Privacy Advisor with a passion for mitigating privacy risk at a tech-focused financial institution. They will join us to perform key privacy compliance activities on the second line of defense and will help manage privacy risk under applicable federal, state, and international privacy laws and regulations. The Manager will work closely with the business, human resources, legal, tech, and risk partners, and serve as a subject matter expert on privacy risk. The Manager will collaborate with an experienced and diverse group of Compliance professionals and help ensure adherence to the Compliance Management Program Policy. A successful candidate is highly motivated, enjoys problem solving, and is able to work well in a team environment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or military experience
  • At least 5 years of privacy compliance, legal, audit, or risk management experience

Nice To Haves

  • Juris Doctor or Master’s degree
  • 6+ years of experience in privacy compliance, legal, audit, or risk management
  • 2+ years of years of consumer compliance, monitoring, risk, or auditing experience at a financial institution
  • CIPP (Certified International Privacy Professional) or CRCM (Certified Regulatory Compliance Manager) certification

Responsibilities

  • Provide guidance, advice, and effective challenge on privacy compliance risk of business initiatives and changes
  • Provide advice and effective challenge to the business and to management on the company’s compliance processes, procedures, and systems supporting the privacy compliance program.
  • Consult with legal counsel and other subject matter experts as necessary to address privacy compliance matters
  • Map legal and regulatory requirements to business processes and activities
  • Advise on controls for activities governed by privacy laws/regulations
  • Engage with compliance testing and third party compliance teams to advise on privacy compliance matters
  • Identify compliance issues that require follow-up or investigation and discuss emerging compliance issues with stakeholders.
  • Review complaints from lines of business and advise on remediation
  • Prepare management reporting on privacy compliance activities
  • Maintain subject matter expertise in federal, state, and international privacy compliance
