Founded in 1969 in Charlotte, North Carolina, McLeod has grown into one of the largest providers of comprehensive substance use disorder treatment in western North Carolina. From initial assessment through long-term recovery support, we are committed to compassionate, ethical, and compliant care. We are currently seeking a Compliance Manager to support and strengthen our organization’s commitment to regulatory excellence and quality care.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent with 5+ years of progressively responsible experience in clinical compliance reviews
  • OR bachelor’s degree with 2+ years of related experience, preferably in a nonprofit or healthcare setting.
  • Prior experience supervising staff within a clinical or compliance setting is required.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools, including Outlook, SharePoint, OneDrive, and Teams.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in directing the daily operations of the Compliance Department, ensuring adherence to federal, state, and accreditation standards.
  • Oversee the hiring, training, and ongoing professional development of Clinical Compliance Department staff.
  • Conduct clinical compliance audits, including patient record reviews, incident reporting, and collection of feedback from persons served.
  • Analyze audit findings to identify trends, risk areas, and opportunities for improvement; prepare reports and recommendations for leadership.
  • Provide guidance to agency staff on records management, confidentiality, and responding to record requests.
  • Perform routine incident reporting and support incident management processes.
  • Distribute monitoring results to key stakeholders and track documentation of corrective actions and follow-up.
  • Participate in internal review meetings and clinical compliance-related committees.
  • Assist with the development, review, and maintenance of internal policies and procedures to ensure compliance with HIPAA, 42 CFR Part 2, and other healthcare and behavioral health regulations.
  • Maintain a working knowledge of applicable regulations, accreditation standards, and service definition requirements.
  • Coordinate activities related to the Hazard Communication Program to support OSHA compliance.
  • Serve as back-up support to the Director of Compliance.
  • Act as liaison with regulatory and accrediting bodies.
  • Serve as Co-Chair of the Physical Plant and Safety Committee.
