About The Position

The Compliance and Quality Manager ensures that our behavioral health organization meets all regulatory, accreditation, and quality standards while fostering a culture of compliance and continuous improvement. This role oversees compliance programs, risk management, and quality assurance efforts to enhance patient safety, service delivery, and operational efficiency.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in healthcare administration, social work, psychology, public health, or a related field (Master’s preferred).
  • 3-5 years of experience in compliance, quality assurance, or risk management in a behavioral health setting.
  • Strong knowledge of behavioral health regulations, HIPAA, Medicaid/Medicare, and accreditation standards.
  • Experience conducting audits, investigations, and implementing corrective action plans.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with leadership, clinicians, and staff to ensure regulatory compliance and quality care.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and maintain compliance policies and procedures in alignment with federal, state, and local behavioral health regulations (e.g., HIPAA, Medicaid, Joint Commission, CARF).
  • Monitor legislative and regulatory changes, ensuring timely updates to policies and staff training.
  • Conduct internal audits, risk assessments, and compliance investigations, recommending corrective actions.
  • Ensure the organization maintains necessary licenses, accreditations, and certifications.
  • Serve as the point of contact for regulatory agencies, auditors, and accreditation bodies.
  • Lead quality improvement initiatives to enhance service effectiveness and patient outcomes.
  • Establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure compliance and quality benchmarks.
  • Oversee incident reporting, complaint resolution, and root cause analyses, ensuring timely corrective actions.
  • Develop and implement client satisfaction and staff engagement surveys to drive quality enhancements.
  • Oversee accurate and secure handling of patient medical records in compliance with HIPAA, state, and federal regulations.
  • Ensure that all medical records are maintained, stored, and retrieved according to legal and organizational guidelines.
  • Conduct regular audits of medical records to ensure completeness, accuracy, and compliance with billing and coding requirements.
  • Train staff on proper documentation practices to maintain compliance and protect patient confidentiality.
  • Respond to medical records requests, including subpoenas, audits, and patient inquiries, ensuring timely and appropriate processing.
  • Develop and facilitate training programs on compliance requirements, ethics, and best practices in quality care.
  • Promote a culture of ethical decision-making, accountability, and adherence to regulatory standards.
  • Oversee risk management initiatives, ensuring timely identification and resolution of compliance risks.
  • Ensure proper documentation and reporting of incidents, complaints, and adverse events.
  • Collaborate with leadership to develop proactive strategies for mitigating compliance risks.
