Essential Job Summary: This position will report to Manager of Compliance & reporting and support our Sales, Customer Service, Operations, IT, Data, HR, Marketing, Legal, and Risk teams in maintaining cross-functional compliance with NYC’s Local Law 199 & the Rules for the City of NY. The main responsibilities for this role will include defining the path to sustainable maintenance of all auditable information, collaborating daily with operational stakeholders to maintain an accurate flow of information within DSNY’s data repository, coordinating the cadenced and ad hoc reporting of necessary data, serving as the subject matter expert for all operational CWZ rules and regulations, employing quality assurance practices to govern program success/integrity, and reporting progress to key program stakeholders. Much of this job will be rooted in efficient communication and requires keen skills in analytical thinking, organization, and time management. We are not requiring previous experience within the waste management industry, but a successful candidate will be a professional, self-sufficient, and personable individual who works well with professionals across all functions, carries out tasks with limited supervision, and has the ability to handle sensitive information. Many responsibilities will require cross-functional collaboration, and the Compliance Analyst will serve as the central liaison.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree and/or Compliance experience is preferred.
  • Highly organized with excellent attention to detail.
  • Excellent analytical skills, ability to quickly aggregate and analyze data/information.
  • Experience designing successful reporting hierarchies with various sources for information
  • Highly proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint).
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to communicate effectively with stakeholders from different departments.
  • Ability to quickly learn and document processes/procedures.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to manage multiple deadlines simultaneously and a strong understanding of prioritization of deliverables.
  • Strong sense of accountability, integrity, and ability to handle highly visible responsibilities.
  • High level of professionalism and ability to handle highly sensitive and confidential information with utmost discretion.
  • Previous experience in successfully delivering results within any role will be considered.

Responsibilities

  • Govern cross-functional compliance with DSNY’s Commercial Waste Zones’ rules & regulations by working with stakeholders to understand & adjust business practices
  • Create, maintain, and disseminate a schedule of compliance and reporting deliverables
  • Analyze high volumes of data from multiple sources, identify trends, and provide recommendations for suggested actions or changes.
  • Liaise with the NYC Department of Sanitation representatives and operational stakeholders regarding CWZ program requests and requirements
  • Maintain and report NYC customer register with accurate information
  • Collect, maintain, and report all required customer contracts
  • Govern customer communication and ad hoc reporting for reportable customer service issues
  • Maintain compliance with maximum rates and prepare required reports
  • Collaborate with HR to track and report CWZ-specific recruiting requirements
  • Work with Marketing to report instances of press releases or publications related to CWZ
  • Maintain accurate and compliant insurance records
  • Coordinate cross-functional schedules to allot necessary time for CWZ focus & collaboration
  • Timely preparation and presentation of materials for key external and internal meetings involving chief executives, including preparation of reports and power point presentations for steering committee meetings.
  • Handle highly confidential information with discretion and professionalism.
