About The Position

The Community Tennis Coordinator plays a key role in expanding access to tennis by planning and delivering community activations, school-based tennis programs, and outreach initiatives. Working closely with the Senior Manager, Community Tennis, and collaborating with internal teams, the Coordinator will help engage diverse audiences through events, workshops and community programming that create pathways into tennis participation. This position focuses on relationship building, event execution, and program support to help grow tennis participation throughout the Mid-Atlantic region.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma (or GED or High School Equivalence Certificate).
  • 1+ year of event coordination, program delivery, or community engagement experience.
  • 2+ years of tennis experience, including playing, teaching, coaching, or other on-court involvement.
  • Must reside in the Mid-Atlantic region (MD, DC, VA, WV).
  • Ability to sit, stand, and walk frequently throughout the workday.
  • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds with or without assistance.
  • Ability to perform repetitive motions using hands and arms.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred in sports management, education, nonprofit management, communications, or a related field, or equivalent experience preferred

Responsibilities

  • Plan, coordinate, and execute tennis activations at schools, conferences, tournaments, workshops, and community events across the Mid-Atlantic region.
  • Support the implementation and growth of the USTA Tennis in Schools program and other youth engagement pathways.
  • Assist with the delivery of coaching workshops, Junior Team Tennis, Junior Circuit, and other youth participation initiatives.
  • Coordinate booth activations and program promotion at SHAPE conferences, Parks & Recreation conferences, and other partner convenings.
  • Travel throughout the Mid-Atlantic region to support school programs, community events, and tennis activations (including evenings and weekends as needed).
  • Represent the USTA Mid-Atlantic Foundation at community events and conferences.
  • Work collaboratively with the Senior Manager, Community Tennis and other program staff to deliver activations across the region.
  • Build and maintain relationships with schools, school districts, PE teachers, community organizations, and local coaches.
  • Serve as a key point of contact for school-based tennis initiatives and community partners.
  • Identify and support new school and community partners to expand access to tennis participation.
  • Strengthen pathways that connect school-based tennis experiences with community and after-school tennis opportunities.
  • Support outreach to targeted and underserved communities to increase tennis access.
  • Collect and track participation data for tennis activations, school programs, and community events.
  • Maintain accurate records of program participation, activities, and expenses.
  • Provide updates related to USTA National Dashboard categories and Mid-Atlantic program priorities.
  • Assist in identifying trends and insights that support program planning and evaluation.
  • Collaborate with the Marketing team to promote school and community tennis initiatives.
  • Assist with communication efforts that highlight program impact and upcoming events.
  • Share program success stories and community highlights for social media and marketing campaigns.
  • Support outreach efforts that increase awareness of USTA Mid-Atlantic programs and initiatives.
  • Respond to inquiries from internal and external stakeholders in a timely and professional manner.
  • Provide information and support related to programs, policies, and participation opportunities.
  • Maintain consistent communication with partners and participants to ensure positive program experiences.
  • Attend virtual or in-person meetings, workshops, and events throughout the year.
  • Attend USTA annual or semi-annual meetings and other national events as required.
  • Participate in up to three in-person all-staff meetings annually at an offsite location.
