About The Position

Cooke County CSCD is hiring a Community Supervision Officer (Probation Officer) to supervise adult offenders on community supervision (probation) for felony and misdemeanor cases. This role involves a mix of office and field work, interacting directly with probationers, the court, and various community resources to promote rehabilitation and public safety.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university required.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Good organizational and time-management abilities.
  • Must pass criminal background check, physical exam, and drug screening.
  • Valid Texas Class C driver's license required.
  • Must be physically capable of light to moderate activity (walking, standing, lifting).
  • Ability to respond appropriately to potentially confrontational situations.
  • Fieldwork and occasional physical exertion required.

Nice To Haves

  • Preferred degree fields: Criminal Justice, Psychology, Social Work, or related areas.
  • Related work experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise a caseload of individuals placed on community supervision.
  • Conduct regular office and field visits to monitor compliance with court conditions.
  • Perform urinalysis testing and document results.
  • Complete intake interviews, risk assessments, and individual case plans.
  • Refer clients to counseling, treatment, or educational programs as needed.
  • Report non-compliance and violations in a timely, accurate manner.
  • Prepare and submit clear, detailed reports, including pre-sentence investigation reports.
  • Testify in court as required.
  • Collaborate with law enforcement and treatment providers.
  • Maintain professionalism in all interactions and documentation.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Director.
