About The Position

The Community Services Manager is responsible for driving sales growth, contract retention, and business expansion with Homeowners Associations (HOAs), Municipal Utility Districts (MUDs), and Independent School Districts (ISDs). This role focuses on securing long-term service agreements for municipal hauling and waste management services by developing strong, strategic partnerships that create value and long-term profitability for the organization. Additionally, the role is responsible for managing accounts, overseeing all retention efforts, and actively prospecting new business opportunities.

Requirements

  • 3 years of experience in government sales or relations activities and customer contact position, government relations and customer contact position or the waste industry as a sales manager or similar position.
  • Knowledge of all facets of sales strategy and implementation including market research, customer prospecting, sales promotion and customer retention strategies.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and Microsoft Teams, Pipedrive a plus.
  • Strong problem solving, influence, and negotiation skills.
  • Strong client orientation and results driven.
  • Solid project management skills.
  • Able to adapt as the external environment and organization evolves.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment in a self-motivating environment.
  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize and manage time effectively.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Comfortable making presentations regularly and interacting with customers on a daily basis in meetings and via web-based interactions.
  • Collaborate with others effectively.
  • Frequent sitting, standing, and/or walking for long periods of time.
  • Manual dexterity required for occasional reaching and lifting of small objects and operating office equipment.
  • Ability to lift and move items up to 20 pounds.
  • Travel, as required.
  • High school diploma or equivalent

Responsibilities

  • Prospects, sells and proactively manages the business relationship within an assigned area for the market.
  • Negotiate pricing and contracts, including contract extensions, as appropriate.
  • Ensures that all approved contract terms are met.
  • Prepare and deliver responses to RFP’s and bids, as well as sales presentations and follows up directly with key decision-makers.
  • Attend bid conferences as necessary.
  • Develop and implements comprehensive account plans (sales, marketing and service programs/strategies) to achieve annual sales and profit objectives within the assigned area.
  • Partner with Senior Division Manager and/or Division Manager in sales and government relation’s activities as needed.
  • Meet regularly with key decision-makers within assigned municipalities, state and federal agencies to enhance the company’s position and continuously bring value-added services to the relationship.
  • Conduct on-site client reviews continually to ensure that quality service is effectively delivered, documents deficiencies and effectively recommends corrective action to operations team as appropriate.
  • Attend industry trade shows and participates in local or state industry associations and trade groups.
  • Develop/implement approved strategies and activities to increase account penetration; satisfaction to ensure profitable client retention.
  • Prepare and maintains all sales documentation by populating and maintaining the CRM system on a weekly basis.
  • Meet with operations management as appropriate to coordinate sales, surveys, and service efforts for assigned accounts/territory.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned
