About The Position

Facilitate the administration of Truist’s Community Reinvestment Act (“CRA”) compliance and performance framework, including assisting with examination preparations. Oversee execution of applicable laws and regulations, and the development and review of policies, procedures, and training materials to ensure business units meet and maintain compliance requirements. Provide CRA regulatory interpretation within the department and to other business unit leadership. Position will be in the office 5 days a week in one of our Truist hubs

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in business or comparable field
  • Seven years of financial institution experience in compliance, audit or legal
  • Thorough knowledge of consumer compliance laws and regulations, with emphasis on CRA
  • Demonstrated ability to think critically and analytically
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Self-starter and independent thinker

Nice To Haves

  • Completion of the American Bankers Association’s Compliance School or Compliance certification
  • Ability to manage implementation of regulatory requirements with bank divisions
  • Experience with CRA compliance software
  • Understanding of available technology to assess impact on CRA
  • Ability to distill and simplify complex information

Responsibilities

  • Maintain superior knowledge of current CRA laws and regulations, pending updates to applicable law and industry trends.
  • Serve as a Truist CRA subject matter expert (SME) for the interpretation and activation of the Act and implementing regulations.
  • Provide leadership to the CRA/ Community Development Department for the formal assessment of community needs and corresponding qualitative assessment of Community Development activities.
  • Support Truist Community Development leadership and responsiveness by monitoring and providing guidance in the execution of corporate, regional, and state programs.
  • Leverage CRA SME to review loans, investments, services and other activities to determine Community Development applicability, and flag those which are qualitative in nature, to be escalated to regulators during CRA Exams.
  • Partner with all CRA/ Community Development verticals to enhance reporting and communication to business units regarding CRA performance progress to goal.
  • Enhance and maintain CRA training framework for Truist teammates, including lending and branch associates. Partner with Bank’s training partners and other teammates to incorporate CRA into existing curriculum.
  • Oversee execution of applicable laws and regulations, and the development and review of policies, procedures, and training materials to ensure business units meet and maintain compliance requirements.
  • Assist with special projects, as needed, to support the overall CRA compliance program.
  • Manage a complex workload that includes multiple tasks and conflicting priorities.
