Community Psychiatric Supports and Treatment (CPST) Position Summary: The CPST is a goal-focused, therapeutic service that helps youth build functional skills and supports for managing symptoms, and improving healthy engagement in their home, school, and community environments. This role helps youth increase the development of positive social, emotional, and daily living skills, as well as successful community integration as part of a comprehensive service plan. As a CPST, you will work with youth ages 0-21 in their home or in the community who face emotional or behavioral challenges. Requirements

  • Applicant must either: Have a Masters degree in: Social Work, Mental Health Counseling, Psychology, Marriage and Family Therapy, Counseling, or other related human services field; and must have experience working with youth who have behavioral health needs Or: Have a Bachelor’s degree in: Social Work, Mental Health Counseling, Psychology, Marriage and Family Therapy, Counseling, or other related human services field; and have at least two years working with children who have serious emotional disturbance or complex behavioral health needs
  • As part of hiring, must be cleared by the State Child Abuse Registry and must complete fingerprinting clearance
  • Be at least 18 years of age
  • Have a valid driver’s license
  • Is sensitive to cultural differences and able to incorporate that understanding into service provision.
  • Individual must possess strong interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrate an ability to remain non-reactive in response to conflict and an ability to provide coaching and supportive guidance.
  • Demonstrate effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrate creative problem solving and planning skills, and the ability to follow goal plans.
  • Demonstrate sound judgment, and the ability to work with youth and their families.
  • Must be able to work independently and with collateral providers.

Responsibilities

  • Assist youth in natural settings such as the home or community to generalize coping strategies, problem solving, social skills, and functional behaviors.
  • Support youth in developing an understanding of their triggers and developing strategies to reduce challenging behaviors and reinforce progress.
  • Use psychoeducation and safety strategies to reduce risky behaviors and promote prosocial behaviors.
  • Document all service contacts, progress toward goals, and incidents in accordance with Medicaid billing standards.
  • Engage families and caregivers to support practice of new skills outside of sessions.
  • Follow the individualized treatment plan, ensuring that activities are appropriate to the youth’s developmental level and needs.
