About The Position

The Community Program Specialist - Rise is responsible for the implementation of programming designed to support girls in community programs such as the Girl Scouts – Rise. This position is aimed at creating access to the Girl Scout Leadership Experience (GSLE) for participants who may be involved with the juvenile justice system, alternative school system, or other behavioral intervention services. This role involves strategic planning, partnership building, tracking program financials, and program facilitation to ensure the successful delivery of high-quality Girl Scout programming within local communities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in education, nonprofit management, criminal justice, social work, or related field.
  • Experience cultivating collaborative relationships with key community leaders.
  • Valid driver’s license and safe driving record

Responsibilities

  • Work closely with the Community Programs Manager to implement a strategic plan for community-based programs with a primary focus on juvenile detention center diversion programs.
  • Implement and facilitate community-based programs that align with Girl Scout program goals and objectives.
  • Serve as an information holder of GSLE programs and the Girl Scout National Program Portfolio and act as a resource to council staff, volunteers, and partners. This includes familiarity with the Volunteer Toolkit content and functionalities.??
  • Recruit and support program participants in partnership with juvenile justice agencies, local school districts, and behavioral intervention programs
  • Recruit, train, and support volunteers, interns, and community partners to facilitate community programs and serve as program leaders, mentors, and role models for Girl Scout participants, with a primary focus on juvenile detention center diversion programming.
  • Provide ongoing guidance, resources, and professional development opportunities to volunteers to enhance their skills and effectiveness in delivering Girl Scout programming.
  • Foster a collaborative and supportive volunteer community that values diversity, inclusion, and the Girl Scout Promise and Law.
  • Cultivate and maintain relationships with community organizations, schools, government agencies, and other stakeholders to support programmatic goals and objectives.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with community leaders, organizations, and influencers to expand the reach and impact of Girl Scout programs.
  • Monitor program outcomes, collect data, and evaluate program effectiveness using quantitative and qualitative methods.
  • Use evaluation findings to inform programmatic decision-making, identify areas for improvement, and implement changes to enhance program quality and impact including keeping designated program partners (juvenile courts) informed of participant progress in programs
  • Stay informed about best practices, trends, and innovations in youth development, education, and community programming to inform program design and implementation.
  • Maintain accurate records of program participation, volunteer involvement, and program outcomes in accordance with Girl Scout policies and procedures.
  • Prepare reports, presentations, and other communications to share program achievements, challenges, and opportunities with stakeholders.
  • Track programmatic activities and expenses for program grants and other funding sources.
  • Works with council staff to deliver quality programs commensurate with the Girl Scout Leadership Experience when the program supports or serves Girl Scouts Rise participants.
