About The Position

O verview of BLOC: We are an inner city ministry that lives and works in the neighborhoods we serve. Our mission exists to build relationships with our neighbors and share hope in brokenness. We target neighborhoods that are underserved. We have a staff size of about 80 where we have after school programs, sports performance center, houses for women in sex trafficking, men and women transitional homes, two coffee shops, screen printing, and other forms of ministry to love our neighbors. Position Summary The Community Ministry Director provides high-level spiritual, strategic, and organizational leadership across a portfolio of community-focused ministries. This leader ensures that each program reflects the heart of BLOC Ministries—building relationships, sharing hope, empowering neighbors, and serving with integrity rooted in the Gospel. The Director will guide multiple program managers, cultivate a culture of spiritual maturity and excellence, and steward resources toward meaningful, measurable community impact. Spiritual Leadership Expectations Demonstrates spiritual depth and Christian character aligned with the qualifications for leaders found in 1 Timothy 3 and Titus 1. Lives missionally in the community, embodying BLOC’s commitment to “move into the neighborhood.” - Shepherds and spiritually mentors staff, encouraging growth, unity, and alignment with BLOC’s ministry philosophy. Leads through prayer, humility, integrity, and Scripture-base decision-making.

Requirements

  • Mature, growing relationship with Jesus Christ
  • Experience leading ministries or community programs.
  • Strong strategic planning, organizational leadership, and people-management skills.
  • Proven ability to manage budgets and secure funding.

Responsibilities

  • Strategic Leadership & Vision Setting Provide overall vision, direction, and leadership to the Men’s Ministry, Food Pantry, Job Training, and Missions programs.
  • Develop long-term strategic plans, annual goals, and program priorities.
  • Ensure ministries innovate, grow, and adapt to serve neighbors effectively and sustainably.
  • Program Oversight & Performance Management Supervise program managers and ensure clarity of roles, expectations, and outcomes.
  • Establish systems for consistent program delivery, data tracking, reporting, and accountability.
  • Monitor program effectiveness using metrics and evaluations.
  • Ensure compliance with organizational standards and funding requirements.
  • Budgeting, Funding, & Resource Allocation Develop and manage budgets across the ministry portfolio.
  • Ensure responsible stewardship of financial, personnel, and material resources.
  • Collaborate with development staff to secure funding through grants, donors, and partnerships.
  • Staff Development & People Leadership Recruit, supervise, and support program staff.
  • Provide coaching, spiritual encouragement, and professional development.
  • Address team dynamics, performance issues, and morale with wisdom and compassion.
  • Partnerships & Community Engagement Build and maintain relationships with external partners, churches, donors, and community organizations.
  • Serve as a key representative of these ministries in the community and at organizational gatherings.
  • Cultivate partnerships that enhance ministry effectiveness and expand impact.
