About The Position

The Community Events Intern is responsible for assisting with the administration of Make-A-Wish external and internal fundraising events, including the annual Make-A-Wish Walk for Wishes, Penguin Plunge and Golfing For Wishes.

Requirements

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office
  • Solid organizational abilities
  • Must be currently enrolled in a college or university academic program
  • Must be able to commute to our downtown Chicago office located at 200 W Monroe St, Suite 1801 Chicago, IL 60606
  • Must be available to work in the office on Wednesdays and Thursdays
  • Minimum age for all internships is 18
  • Selected candidates will be asked to participate in a criminal background check
  • Time Commitment: 12-15 hours per week (hybrid work experience), including weekly in-office working days on Wednesdays and Thursdays. The cycle runs from June 4th, 2026, through August 6th, 2026. Official start date is on Thursday, June 4th, 2026, with mandatory in-person intern orientation at 9:30am.

Responsibilities

  • Events include Walk for Wishes, Kids for Wish Kids®, Wish Makers on Campus®, and all other external events.
  • Assisting with community outreach, research and prospecting for community groups and sponsorships.
  • Coordinating event logistics including processing license agreements, conducting outreach calls, event setups and event debriefs.
  • Creating marketing and stewardship collateral events.
