Community, Equity, and Inclusion Coordinator

The Bush SchoolSeattle, WA
19h$60,000 - $70,000

About The Position

The Community, Equity, and Inclusion Coordinator (CEI) is a hands-on implementer who drives execution of the school’s purpose-driven programming and other CEI-aligned community initiatives across K–12. This role turns ideas into plans, plans into logistics, and logistics into experiences that run smoothly and feel thoughtful. Working closely with the Director of CEI, the Coordinator manages timelines, details, communications, and follow-through—so affinity spaces are strengthened year over year and heritage month programming is consistent and well-supported, and CEI priorities move from planning to sustained, schoolwide practice.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required (or equivalent combination of education and experience).
  • 2+ years of experience in program execution, operations, student life, advising/coaching, community engagement, family programming, staff learning support, or project coordination in a school or mission-aligned organization.
  • Gets things done: can take a goal, build a plan, manage details, and deliver—reliably and repeatedly.
  • Project management instincts: timelines, task tracking, and follow-up.
  • Implementation mindset: can carry a priority from concept to consistent practice; notices what will make it workable in a school setting.
  • Strong judgment and discretion: understands sensitive dynamics; can support identity-based spaces with care.
  • Clear communicator: writes and speaks plainly; keeps people informed.
  • Relational and steady: builds trust with students and adults.
  • Operational comfort: confident with shared calendars, docs/spreadsheets, and learning new systems quickly.
  • Have a current Adult and Children CPR, First Aid, and AED Certification (or receive one soon after hire date)
  • Meet the school’s standards when completing two separate background screenings
  • Stamina: Ability to stand and walk for extended periods, manage long days, and support body with core muscles.
  • Fine Motor Skills: Using hands to grasp, move, or assemble small objects (e.g., papers, writing).
  • Sensory: Clear hearing to distinguish sounds and vision to see differences in color, shade, brightness.
  • Ability to sit and keyboard for up to 8 hours per day & lift up to 30 pounds (file boxes).

Nice To Haves

  • We welcome candidates whose experience is transferable rather than directly “CEI-titled,” including work in youth development, educational access programs, and advising/coaching.

Responsibilities

  • Own the operational backbone of affinity and alliance spaces: annual calendar, meeting schedules, room requests, supplies, budgets, and shared planning templates.
  • Build repeatable systems that make affinity spaces easier to lead (planning timeline, facilitation supports, leader checklists, communications rhythms, simple debrief tools).
  • Provide direct planning support to student and adult affinity leaders: help shape ideas into realistic plans, track tasks, and ensure follow-through.
  • Coordinate adult support structures for affinity spaces (advisor onboarding, consistent expectations, and practical guidance for navigating sensitive moments with discretion and care).
  • Maintain lightweight tracking on participation and needs so the Director has visibility into what’s working, where groups need support, and what’s emerging.
  • Run point on planning and logistics for heritage months and community observances across K–12, in collaboration with CEI Coordinators, students, affinity groups, and divisional partners.
  • Develop and manage an annual observances plan that includes key dates, programming arcs, communications schedule, and division-specific touchpoints.
  • Handle the practical work that makes programming happen: run-of-show, vendors/partners, space and tech needs, materials, volunteers, set-up, and day-of execution.
  • Draft and coordinate clear internal communications so people know what’s happening, what’s needed, and how to participate.
  • Coordinate across divisions to reduce calendar conflicts and support implementation of CEI initiatives in student life and Family engagement.
  • Keep projects moving through consistent follow-up: agendas, notes, action steps, reminders, and “close-the-loop” wrap-ups after events.
  • Support additional CEI initiatives as needed, including schoolwide community programming and implementation projects.
