About The Position

The School of Public Health, Department of Health Policy & Behavioral Sciences is seeking a dedicated SFP - Project Coordinator to serve as the Community Engagement Coordinator for the Prevention Research Center (PRC). In this role, you will act as the face of the PRC in the Clarkston community, turning research goals into meaningful local action and building the partnerships necessary to improve public health outcomes. The Community Engagement Coordinator will serve as a primary point-of-contact in Clarkston, GA, the central location of focus for the PRC. As the Community Engagement Coordinator, you will play a vital role in representing the GSU PRC by exploring, understanding, and responding to the specific needs of the Clarkston community. You will help facilitate essential connections between the PRC and Clarkston residents, as well as local organizations, to ensure our research is deeply rooted in community collaboration. The scope of the responsibilities will include these essential duties, but is not limited to the following:

Requirements

  • Proven ability to build trust and act as a professional liaison between research entities and local community organizations.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Zoom, and Dropbox to facilitate meetings and manage project documentation.
  • Strong multi-tasking and organizational skills to manage project timelines while supporting faculty and staff administrative needs.
  • Ability to gather community feedback and advise leadership on effective engagement and recruitment strategies.
  • Bachelor’s degree and two years of related experience; or a High School Diploma or GED and six years of related experience; or a combination of education and related experience.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary liaison and representative for the GSU PRC within the Clarkston community.
  • Attend local community events and serve as the central point-of-contact for all external communications.
  • Advise leadership on community engagement strategies and best practices for research project recruitment.
  • Organize community meetings and events; gather and distribute relevant information to foster transparency and trust between the PRC and the public.
  • Provide high-level administrative support to faculty and staff, including the scheduling and facilitation of internal and external meetings.
  • Coordinate and attend Community Advisory Board meetings.
  • Manage professional correspondence and respond to community and partner inquiries in a timely manner.
  • Disseminate project-related information through newsletters, in-person discussions, and social media platforms.
  • Manage media inquiries and public-facing content to promote PRC initiatives.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support the evolving needs of the Clarkston community focus.
