Lifebanc, is the federally designated organ, eye and tissue recovery organization that serves 20 counties in Northeast Ohio. Put simply, we facilitate and coordinate organ, eye and tissue donation and transplantation in our community and educate the public on the importance of our mission. The Community Education Coordinator develops, implements, and evaluates community education initiatives that support Lifebanc’s mission. This position is responsible for educational programming on the subject of organ, eye, and tissue donation within middle and high schools, driver’s education courses, BMVs, and community events for the purpose of increasing visibility and donor registration rates. This candidate is also responsible for the coordination of volunteer ambassadors/independent contractors for the purpose of education. This role expands community awareness of Lifebanc’s services and ensures educational programming is accessible and culturally responsive. The ideal candidate excels in program coordination and delivery, public speaking, and engaging audiences of all ages and backgrounds.

Requirements

  • Experience in education, community health, community outreach, public speaking, and/or nonprofit program coordination.
  • Minimum two years’ experience in education, community health, or community engagement.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Valid driver's license and vehicle insurance with the ability to travel within our 20-county service area in Northeast Ohio. This position requires regular, local travel.
  • Excellent organizational, time management, and multi-tasking abilities.
  • Strong communication, facilitation, and relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in team settings.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, along with strong presentation skills.
  • Ability to engage with diverse communities, manage emotions under pressure, and exhibit a commitment to cultural sensitivity and diversity in the workplace and the community.
  • Ability to work some evenings and weekends as needed.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in education or nursing preferred, with related experience in community health, social services, communications, or a comparable field considered.
  • preferably with or within healthcare and/or non-profit organizations (for the minimum two years’ experience)

Responsibilities

  • Develop and deliver educational workshops, presentations, staff & volunteer training, and community-focused educational events.
  • Adapt and tailor educational materials for multiple audiences, including schools, Bureau of Motor Vehicles staff, community organizations, and service providers.
  • Lead volunteer recruitment, training, and coordination for community education activities.
  • Participate in educational activities to enhance understanding of Lifebanc and the organ and tissue donation processes.
  • Develop, review, and present age-appropriate and culturally sensitive curriculum for a variety of community groups.
  • Assisting in the development, implementation, and facilitation of virtual learning and external eLearning platforms.
  • Collaborate on the coordination of educational outreach events (scheduling, materials, registration, communication, and follow-up).
  • Represent Lifebanc at community meetings, health fairs, coalitions, and partner events.
  • Assist in educational outreach to underserved, multicultural, and diverse populations.
  • Track program participation, feedback, and outcomes to support continuous improvement.
  • Lead community education-related data entry, reporting, and maintenance of program documentation.
  • Collaborate with internal departments to ensure outreach efforts align with organizational goals and strategic priorities and confirm initiatives are properly represented and communicated across all channels.
  • Assist with inventory and distribution of outreach materials, including educational materials, brochures, flyers, and branded promotional items.
  • Performs other job duties as assigned.
