Community Education Arts Instructor - (Part-time)
About The Position
Glendale Community College (GCC) seeks a creative and community-minded part-time Community Education Arts Instructor to design, develop, and deliver short-term, non-credit art enrichment courses at both the Main and North campuses. The instructor will teach engaging, hands-on classes, including day, evening and weekend offerings, that support lifelong learning and help align Community Education courses with GCC's credit programs and pathways. This position plays an active role in advancing GCC's mission to provide high-quality, accessible learning experiences that serve the educational and workforce interests of the West Valley community. Responsibilities include developing curriculum, teaching and facilitating classes, preparing and organizing materials, promoting offerings, engaging participants, and tracking participation and feedback to support continuous program improvement.
Responsibilities
- Course Design & Instruction - Designs and teaches short-term, non-credit artistic and creative classes and workshops. Develops lesson plans and materials aligned with Community Education goals and related credit pathways, adapting instruction for varying skill levels across GCC campuses and partner sites.
- Program Development & Promotion - Collaborates with the Community Education team to identify new topics and community interests. Partners with organizations and local businesses to design tailored classes and experiences. Assists with promoting offerings through events, marketing, and outreach, and helps document processes to improve coordination and program growth.
- Participant Engagement & Communication - Communicates with participants before, during, and after classes to ensure a positive experience. Tracks attendance, gathers feedback, and supports participant satisfaction and retention. Fosters a welcoming, respectful learning environment.
- Materials, Supplies & Logistics Management - Identifies and recommends art supplies and materials, tracks inventory, and assists with ordering and organization. Coordinates classroom setup and cleanup, ensuring safe and proper use of materials and adherence to GCC policies. Travels between campuses and partner sites as needed to support class delivery and logistics.
- Program Evaluation & Reporting - Maintains records of participation, supply usage, and feedback. Reviews course content and delivery to recommend improvements. Provides updates to the Community Education team on outcomes, resource needs, and partnerships.
- Performs other duties as assigned related to Community Education.
