About The Position

Do you have a passion for working with youth and making a difference in your community? The University of Nevada, Reno Extension is looking for a dynamic and motivated Community Based Instructor 3 to join our Washoe County team. This is your opportunity to help shape the future of 4-H youth development programs, inspire young minds, and work with a supportive network of staff, volunteers, and community partners. In this role, you’ll be the heart of local 4-H programming.

Requirements

  • This position requires graduation from high school or equivalent education and three (3) years of relevant work experience in areas such as agriculture, horticulture, community development, health and nutrition, human and family development, and natural resources in urban and rural areas; OR An equivalent combination of education and experience as described above
  • Experience working with school-aged youth (ages 5–19)
  • Background in Youth Development and/or 4-H programs
  • Valid Class “C” Nevada driver’s license (or higher) at the time of hire
  • Successful completion of a background check/fingerprinting

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working directly with youth ages 5 -12 in a classroom setting
  • Experience presenting programs to youth ages 5 - 12
  • Candidates that are bilingual in English and Spanish are encouraged to apply.

Responsibilities

  • Recruit, train, advise, and support dedicated volunteers.
  • Develop creative strategies to engage youth in 4-H programs—in school, after school, and in the community.
  • Plan and oversee events, curriculum, and program improvements.
  • Collaborate with Extension faculty/staff and county partners to achieve program goals.
  • Monitor and evaluate program success, track participation, and prepare reports.
  • Manage supply inventories.
