About The Position

The Community and Civic Engagement Manager is a subject matter expert in localized community relations, community partnerships, sponsorships, and civic engagement programs. As an individual contributor, this role serves as a connector across internal stakeholders at Alaska Airlines (AS) and community partners to deliver community centered initiatives, employee engagement and local market activations. This role also drives coordination, visibility and reporting to support effective execution and meaningful community impact.

Requirements

  • 4 years of experience in marketing, public relations, communications or a related field.
  • Bachelor’s degree or an additional two years of relevant training/experience in lieu of this degree.
  • Proven experience managing complex, multi-layered projects.
  • Strong communication (verbal, written, and interpersonal), organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrated organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently, practice confidentiality, and maintain professionalism under pressure.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Teams).
  • Flexible schedule with the ability to support events during evenings and occasional weekends as needed.
  • Travel will be required (approx. 15%).
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum age of 18.
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S.

Responsibilities

  • Execute and steward relationships, acting as a consistent point of contact with neighborhood leaders, grassroots organizations, non-profit groups, and advocacy coalitions, advancing Alaska Airlines’ long term community engagement objectives.
  • Identify barriers to engagement, influencing AS leaders to engage authentically with residents (briefings, talking points, listening strategies).
  • Plan and execute high-profile community events, major sponsorships, and non-profit events in coordination with marketing, communications, and sales teams to advance Alaska’s business in key markets.
  • With minimal direction from leadership, exercises considerable judgement to make decisions in message creation and placement throughout social channels to drive increases in brand engagement.
  • Identify barriers to engagement (language, time, transportation, digital access, trust).
  • Deliver engagement models tailored to marginalized or historically excluded groups.
  • Collect qualitative and quantitative feedback from community activities and develop reporting to inform leadership recommendations and drive more effective engagement execution.
  • Implement AS community engagement strategy for California based employees, establishing priorities, investment approaches, and success measures.
