About The Position

This position will work collaboratively with staff, volunteers, event companies, and community partners to produce a variety of events for FFT’s donor community. Food For Thought’s signature events include Our Long Table (June), Dining Out For Life (December), a plant sale (April), and 1-3 donor appreciation events per year. This position also manages participation in several community events including but not limited to Pride parades, Sonoma County fairs, and community festivals.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 3–5 years of progressively responsible experience in event planning, community engagement, fundraising events, or related nonprofit work.
  • Demonstrated success managing multiple events simultaneously, including budget oversight, vendor coordination, logistics management, and post-event evaluation
  • Experience working collaboratively with volunteers, sponsors, vendors, and community partners to execute high-quality events
  • Strong project management skills with exceptional attention to detail, organization, and ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to represent the organization professionally and warmly in diverse community settings
  • Comfort working occasional evenings and weekends to support events and community activities
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook), Google Workspace, and donor/event management systems (experience with Salesforce database preferred)
  • Ability to manage event budgets responsibly and track expenses accurately.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with a collaborative, solution-oriented mindset and a commitment to teamwork across departments
  • Demonstrated cultural humility and ability to engage respectfully with diverse communities
  • Passion for Food For Thought’s mission and alignment with the organization’s values of community, healing, excellence, and kindness
  • Valid California driver’s license and reliable transportation for event-related travel throughout Sonoma County
  • Ability to move 25lbs

Responsibilities

  • Oversee event budgets, timelines, and logistics
  • Collaborate with Marketing and Communications Manager to oversee media coverage, publicity, and all printed and digital event materials
  • Manage and support community sponsored events
  • Coordinate the creation of event programs and entertainment
  • Work with volunteer services to coordinate event volunteer needs including volunteer trainings
  • Manage the organization’s presence throughout the year at County fairs, festivals, and parades
  • Coordinate the logistics for FFT’s donor engagement events
  • Follow up on and document each event
  • Bring a professional and kind approach to your work and have pride in building community through engagement
  • Represent FFT’s mission and vision in the community and at events
  • Be an active participant in development and organizational teams
  • Maintain agency’s reputation for integrity, caring, and respect
  • Attend regular staff and department meetings
  • Other tasks as assigned
