About The Position

Under the direction of the Director of Planning & Development, the Community Advancement Coordinator will perform professional work in the coordination of grant development, grant management, compliance oversight, performance evaluation, and project management within the Planning & Development Department. Positions in this class perform advanced analysis, identify needed corrective actions to resolve discrepancies, develop performance measures, and maintain grant and project documentation. This position differs from the Planning Coordinator classification in that it focuses primarily on strategic grant lifecycle management, compliance oversight, and performance measurement rather than general planning program coordination.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in public administration, Urban or Regional Planning, Business Administration, Government, Finance, or related field.
  • Supplemented by a minimum of five (5) years of experience performing grant development, grant management, compliance monitoring, and project management work; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job.
  • Tasks require the ability to exert medium physical effort in medium work, but which may involve some lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling of objects and materials of medium weight (20-50 pounds).
  • Tasks may involve extended periods of time climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, fingering, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, seeing, and repetitive motion at a keyboard or workstation.
  • Some tasks require the ability to perceive and discriminate sounds and visual cues or signals.
  • Some tasks require the ability to communicate orally.
  • Essential functions are regularly performed with exposure to adverse environmental conditions. Exposure to damp/wet surfaces, duty conditions, fumes and odors, and infectious diseases.

Responsibilities

  • Research and identifies federal, state, and private funding opportunities aligned with County priorities and strategic initiatives.
  • Leads the preparation, drafting, and submission of grant applications and required documentation plus coordinating budgeting and procurement compliance.
  • Provides technical guidance and subject-matter expertise to Assistant Planning Coordinators regarding grant development, compliance standards, reporting requirements, and performance measurement methodologies.
  • Monitors awarded grants for compliance and contractual requirements.
  • Develop performance benchmarks and prepare progress and performance reports to include collecting, organizing, and analyzing data for reporting and evaluation.
  • Maintains a centralized grant opportunity tracking system and funding calendar to ensure proactive identification and submission of funding opportunities.
  • Identifies compliance risks and recommends corrective action plans to ensure audit readiness and regulatory adherence.
  • Consults and communicates with County departments, agencies, civic groups, and external partners.
  • Maintains organized grant documentation in accordance with County policies and regulatory standards.
  • Performs other related duties as required.
