Requirements

  • At least 2 years related experience (i.e. Customer service, healthcare, hospitality, security, law enforcement or military required
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Must obtain one of the following certificate: Public Safety Telecommunicator through TX A&M Engineering Ext Service or Basic Telecommunications Certificate through North Central Texas Emergency Communications (NCT9-1-1), both meet TCOLE requirements. - effective 11/13/2020 new employees must obtain TCOLE certificate within 60 days of hire. (Existing employees must obtain TCOLE certificate by 1/1/2021.) required
  • Valid, current Texas Department of Public Safety Driver's License required
  • Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers as required by CP 1.20 Life Support Course Requirements 60 Days, required

Responsibilities

  • Operates emergency and non-emergency communication systems; receives requests for service by telephone; obtains and relays necessary information efficiently and accurately; gives callers direction and instruction as necessary.
  • Monitor all security alarm systems to include: fire alarm, generator alarms, medical gas alarms, door alarms and trauma pager.
  • Operates numerous highly technical computer systems including the Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD)
  • Maintain records of all service requests, emergency calls and priority alarms.
  • Monitors the public safety video system throughout the system.
