About The Position

The Chrysler Museum of Art home to more than 35,000 works across 50 galleries and the nationally recognized Perry Glass Studio is seeking a Communications Graphic Designer to support the Museum’s day‑to‑day visual communication needs. With free admission and a mission centered on accessibility, the Museum is a vibrant cultural destination for our community. The Communications Graphic Designer supports the Museum’s Day to day visual communication needs that follow established brand guidelines. This mid-level role works closely with internal customers (including Philanthropy, Education, the Glass Studio, Museum Shop, Special Events, and Visitor Services departments) to produce the Museum’s marketing collateral, communications, advertisements and graphics.

Requirements

  • High school diploma required, bachelor’s degree in graphic design, visual communications, or related field preferred.
  • 5+ years of design experience in a nonprofit, agency, or in‑house setting preferred.
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign).
  • Understanding of basic pre‑press and file preparation.
  • Ability to follow established brand guidelines and adapt provided assets.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and meet deadlines consistently.

Responsibilities

  • Follow brand guidelines to maintain consistency and honor the Museum’s visual identity.
  • Keep graphic files, logos, templates, and branded materials organized.
  • Prepare accurate, print‑ready files that meet vendor specifications.
  • Produce graphics for digital, print, direct mail, and the member magazine in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Update digital signage as priorities shift.
  • Adapt quickly to new requests, manage workload, and handle last‑minute needs.
  • Support email layout development and remain receptive to feedback.
  • Collaborate with Communications and internal teams to understand project needs.
  • Refine designs based on feedback and evolving goals.
  • Explore design solutions that elevate the Museum’s visual presence within guidelines.
  • Stay current with design tools and trends.
  • Continue developing skills to improve quality and efficiency.
  • Work with Communications and internal partners to deliver materials for exhibitions, programs, and events.
  • Assist with production and coordination with external print vendors.
  • Communicate timelines, needs, and updates proactively.
  • Produce clear, readable print materials that communicate Museum messaging effectively.
  • Ensure digital files, signage, and layouts are visually accessible and easy to understand.
  • Maintain accuracy across all design elements to support consistent public communication.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
