About The Position

The Communications Coordinator and Communications Manager will work together to support the editorial needs of groups across Davis Polk and serve as their partner in executing a wide variety of business and creative communications projects. Through close collaboration with other Business Development teams (e.g. Creative, Events) and firm groups (e.g. Human Resources, Pro Bono, Professional Development), the Communications Coordinator will develop a keen understanding of the innerworkings of a large, global law firm and work to uphold a high standard for its communications. As a junior member of the firm’s global PR & Communications team (which sits within Business Development), the Communications Coordinator will also have the opportunity to learn about and contribute to other team work.

Requirements

  • Exemplary writing, editing and proofreading skills
  • Strong grasp of proper grammar and ability to write and edit in adherence with provided editorial style guidelines
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize, including in high-pressure or time-sensitive situations and in instances of competing deadlines
  • Exceptional judgment and discretion, both in navigating day-to-day business activity and assessing how to best align communications with firm needs through message, tone and style
  • Ability to collaborate effectively across teams
  • Minimum 1-2 years of experience in a writing-focused or content-oriented role (communications, public relations, marketing, advertising, journalism, etc.)
  • Bachelor’s degree

Nice To Haves

  • Experience at a law firm or other professional services firm, or as a legal or business journalist preferred

Responsibilities

  • Drafting new or reviewing and editing existing content for a wide variety of internal and external uses and audiences (creative work including advertisements, invitations, brochures and other branded materials, as well as more general communications including firmwide internal emails and news, and conference materials such as agendas and speaker bios)
  • Maintaining and periodically updating firm and individual profiles for various external publications and directories
  • Ensuring that communications are a positive reflection on the firm, are well-written with careful attention paid to message, tone and style, and that all content adheres to firm editorial and style guidelines (as necessary)
  • Other communications projects as needed
