About The Position

The Dungeness River Nature Center is seeking a Communications Coordinator to join their team and help share their mission with the community, partners, and visitors. This role is responsible for producing professional, consistent, and on-brand communications across a variety of platforms, including print, digital, and multimedia. The Communications Coordinator plays a key role in promoting DRNC programs, events, and initiatives while supporting organizational operations and outreach efforts. As a key member of the DRNC team, the Communications Coordinator ensures effective communication with the public, partners, and media. This position develops written materials, manages digital platforms, and produces print and audio-visual content that supports DRNC’s mission, services, and campaigns.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Four (4) years of experience and/or secondary education in communications, marketing, fundraising, or related field
  • Experience with administrative and computer-based tasks
  • Strong writing and editing skills
  • Proficiency across print, digital, and social media platforms
  • Basic graphic design knowledge
  • Excellent interpersonal and verbal communication skills
  • Strong time management, decision-making, and problem-solving abilities
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Commitment to high-level customer service
  • Professionalism, sound judgment, and adaptability in a dynamic environment
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
  • Capacity to adapt to change
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Willingness to learn database platforms (e.g., Constant Contact, NEON)
  • Valid driver’s license with ability to travel locally and regionally
  • Successful completion of a criminal background check

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, journalism, public relations, or related field
  • Experience with Adobe Creative Suite
  • Knowledge of or interest in the North Olympic Peninsula and Pacific Northwest
  • Passion for environmental conservation and education
  • Experience with mission-driven nonprofit organizations
  • Background in first aid and emergency response
  • American Indian/Alaska Native preference applies

Responsibilities

  • Assist with digital file management, organization, and administrative systems
  • Support maintenance of CRM databases and email/digital marketing platforms
  • Draft, format, and prepare forms, correspondence, and reports
  • Serve as webmaster, managing website maintenance and user permissions with Executive Director approval
  • Serve as social media manager, overseeing user roles and approving content
  • Assist with presentation development for meetings
  • Provide A/V and IT support for staff, visitors, and partners
  • Assist with grant proposal development and reporting
  • Produce and manage the monthly DRNC newsletter
  • Prepare and distribute press releases and media materials
  • Develop the annual membership report
  • Create and publish event promotions across digital channels
  • Develop and implement social media strategies and campaigns
  • Review and update website content for accuracy and consistency
  • Collaborate with internal teams on program marketing materials
  • Manage sponsorship promotions for fundraising events
  • Analyze engagement and demographic data to inform strategy
  • Coordinate messaging with partner organizations
  • Support fundraising campaigns and events
  • Maintain brand standards and editorial style
  • Develop written content including articles and press releases
  • Design and produce print materials and coordinate with printers
  • Capture and edit photo and video content for marketing use
  • Support events and committee activities as assigned
  • Staff the front desk as needed
  • Serve as a backup contact for visitors and volunteers
  • Participate in outreach events
  • Follow all organizational policies and safety standards
  • Perform additional duties as assigned
