About The Position

The Subways organization moves an average weekday ridership of 4.5 million. We utilize a diverse array of fields of expertise to provide safe and reliable service. We are comprised of the following divisions: Maintenance of Way, Service Delivery, Car Equipment, Support Operations, Operations Support, Stations, SIR, Capital Programs. In conjunction with MTA Construction & Development and other DOS divisions, Operating Initiatives and Project Coordination (OIPC) oversees the development and maintenance of communication-based train control (CBTC) from concept to implementation. OIPC also supports DOS systems planning and operational readiness for technology systems.

Requirements

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite is a must.
  • The candidate should possess organizational, analytical and communication skills.
  • The candidate should be able to work well under pressure and prioritize tasks effectively.
  • The candidate should have a keen eye for detail and be able to work independently while being an active team player.
  • Matriculated in an undergraduate program with at least a 2.5 GPA or graduate program in good standing with at least 2.8 GPA
  • All applicants must be authorized to work in the United States at the time of application.
  • Students' transcript must be submitted.

  • Major(s) Preferred: Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Civil Engineering, Computer Science, Engineering Technology, Information Technology, Urban Planning, Urban Studies, or related field.

Responsibilities

  • Interns will directly support OIPC's work and contribute to the success of CBTC projects in the Department of Subways by supporting technical projects in OIPC, analyzing CBTC incidents, and the development of new data pipelines and dashboards for analysis of CBTC technical data
  • Analysis of data produced by CBTC systems
  • Analysis of CBTC-related train incidents to determine root causes
  • Tracking of open issues to support issue resolution and strategic discussions with suppliers
  • Development of data pipelines for processing of technical and diagnostic data from CBTC systems
  • Development of dashboards for analysis of CBTC diagnostic data
  • Develop and maintain matrices of identified stakeholders
  • Assist with project management, scheduling and interdependency impacts
  • Support team with administrative tasks as needed
