About The Position

Paladin is seeking an enthusiastic Commissioning Field Intern to support the building goals for our Owner partners. As a Commissioning Field Intern, you will be responsible for supporting verifying installion and coordination, completing function verification testing, collaborating on issues resolution and logging equipment data. The Commissioning Field Intern will be responsible for preparing materionals for Building Enclosure testing, performing required testing for Building Enclosure assemblies, and Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing systems in collaboration with the commissioning team, and supporting the documentation of these activities. This is a part time internship out of our Lexington, KY office. This position requires regular travel, up to 50% within 250 miles of Lexington, KY, rarely overnight. You will be traveling to active building construction projects and will be working indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions.

Requirements

  • Students working toward an Associate’s degree or Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related field
  • Experience using Engineering and Construction software, such as Revit, Bluebeam, ProCore, eComm, Autodesk360, Cx Alloy, Building Test
  • Experience with Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing systems including air distribution systems, hydronic distribution systems, central utility plant operations, generators and power distribution, lighting controls, and Building Automation Systems
  • A valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
  • Ability to pass background check to work with correctional facilities and primary and secondary educational facilities
  • High level of attention to detail to ensure accuracy
  • Ability to work on multiple tasks with minimal supervision while planning, scheduling, and completing tasks within established deadlines
  • Ability to work flexible hours and occasional weekend as required by testing methodologies and construction site conditions
  • Extended periods working on a computer and computer accessories (keyboard, mouse, etc.)
  • Travel locally up to 50%, occasional national travel <5%
  • Required to wear necessary PPE on job sites and will be working outdoors in all weather conditions
  • Regularly required to sit, stand, walk, use hands and fingers, handle or feel objects, tools, or controls, reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, talk, hear, and smell
  • Lift up to 50 lbs regularly and up to 100 lbs occasionally
  • Occasionally climbing, crouching, crawling, and balancing
  • Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, basic color differentiation, and the ability to adjust focus

Responsibilities

  • Complete safety training and perform all work in compliance with site safety requirements
  • Review building plans and testing procedures to determine the necessary materials in preparation for schedule testing
  • Support field testing as instructed by the lead team member on-site
  • Prepare construction checklists, system verification checklists, and functional testing forms for a variety of building equipment and systems (HVAC, electrical, plumbing, fire alarm and protection, security)
  • Manage the production of the deliverables in a high-quality manner consistent with stated standards and compliance paths for certification programs
  • Read and understand schematics, technical diagrams, and construction project documentation to conduct complete reviews of the installation and operation of building systems
  • Identify, diagnose and resolve equipment and systems problems and coordinating testing until the problems and resolved
  • Deliver documents that are well-written, technically accurate, and well-formatted
  • Duties will be added, removed, or modified as necessary
