What you can look forward to as a Commercial Vehicle Transmission Mechanic Perform complete disassembly and reassembly of ZF transmissions including implementing product updates. Inspect units including identifying parts, reordering materials, shop order accountability and unit cleanliness in preparation for assembly. Assemble units to include correct measurements, verifying product updates, completing subassemblies, and completing warranty / repair actions. Verify unit functionality through completed testing procedures, uploading test reports and shop order management Work closely with the technical service team to develop shop order requirements Diagnose/Troubleshoot gearboxes, clearly communicate specifications to technical service Work independently and may travel locally to customer locations. Work on Department of Transportation (D.O.T.) safety sensitive product, achieve and maintain D.O.T. certification. Performs related tasks as assigned by department supervisor.
