Inspects, repairs, services, and maintains gasoline, diesel, and electronically operated mobile plant equipment and change, repairs, and services batteries and tires. Truck Maintainer’s essential functions include: Inspects, removes, repairs, and replaces parts as necessary for maintenance of equipment, working from blueprints and diagrams. Exercises considerable latitude in determining priorities, scheduling work and securing parts from the most economical source. Consults usage histories via CRT parts catalogs, calls vendors, purchases materials within established limits. Repairs, maintains, paints, charges, removes and replaces electric storage batteries. Tests equipment after repairs to check proper operation. Does limited welding as required. Does body and fender work and painting on vehicle. Lubricates, washes, steam cleans, and services plant mobile equipment and parts, gasoline, diesel, and electric. Keeps accurate records of all work performed via CRT terminals and/or standardized forms. Performs above duties with a minimum of supervision because of thorough knowledge of the principals of internal combustion and diesel engines and electrical/electronic equipment. Keeps work area in a clean and orderly condition. Comply with all safety, quality and environmental regulations.
