About The Position

We are seeking a full-time, experienced Commercial Generator Install & Service Technician to join our team. This role is ideal for a self-motivated, dependable technician with a strong electrical background who thrives in a fast-paced, hands-on environment. In this role, you will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of commercial generator systems, ensuring reliable power solutions for our customers. You’ll work on a wide range of generator sizes and applications while upholding the highest safety and quality standards. You’ll be a key member of our Commercial Energy Products team, joining a company with a long-standing history in the energy industry and a strong commitment to safety, training, and employee growth.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical or vocational training preferred
  • 3+ years of commercial electrical or generator installation/service experience
  • Knowledge of NEC, electrical regulations, and safety standards
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and diagrams
  • Experience with transfer switches, controls, and generator diagnostics preferred
  • Basic mechanical and pipe-fitting knowledge a plus
  • Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills
  • Ability to manage time effectively and work independently
  • Professional, reliable, and safety-focused work ethic
  • Valid driver’s license with a satisfactory driving record
  • Ability to lift, push, and pull up to 100 pounds
  • Ability to work outdoors and in varying weather conditions

Responsibilities

  • Install, wire, and commission commercial generator systems in accordance with project specifications, manufacturer requirements, and electrical codes
  • Perform preventive maintenance, inspections, and service on standby and prime power generators
  • Diagnose and repair electrical, control, and mechanical issues related to generator systems, transfer switches, and associated equipment
  • Conduct load bank testing and other performance diagnostics
  • Troubleshoot electrical circuits, controls, wiring, and components to ensure proper operation
  • Collaborate with internal teams to ensure proper integration of generators into existing electrical systems
  • Interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical documentation
  • Complete accurate service reports, inspection records, and test documentation
  • Communicate professionally with customers regarding system performance, recommendations, and service needs
  • Follow all electrical codes, safety regulations, and company safety policies
  • Stay current with industry standards, electrical code updates, and emerging generator technologies
  • Assist with installation projects for the Commercial Energy Products team, including EV chargers and Battery/Energy Storage Systems.
