Click here to see what our team has to say about working at AP: The Role The Commercial Estimator is responsible for: Reviewing architectural drawings and specifications Performing accurate take-offs across multiple scopes Identifying risk, omissions, and margin exposure Preparing clear, professional proposals Supporting commercial sales with disciplined execution This is a production role with real accountability. You will work closely with senior sales leadership and will be expected to operate independently — not wait for instruction. What Success Looks Like (First 90 Days) Within 90 days, you will be: Independently producing 10–15 complete proposals per week Maintaining defined turnaround times (typically 24–72 hours depending on scope) Delivering clean estimates requiring minimal correction Identifying scope gaps and raising issues before submission Demonstrating strong command of product knowledge and construction documents We believe in measurable standards, not vague expectations. Requirements

  • 3+ years estimating experience in commercial construction, glazing, specialty trades, or related field
  • Strong proficiency in Excel and estimating software
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrated track record of managing deadlines and bid volume
  • High level of personal accountability

Responsibilities

  • Interpret and analyze architectural drawings and bid packages
  • Identify all applicable scopes of work across company offerings
  • Perform detailed take-offs (window film, graphics, specialty systems)
  • Gather and validate project data (timelines, decision-makers, materials, installation constraints)
  • Prepare proposals using company estimating software and Excel
  • Maintain organized documentation and bid tracking
  • Attend pre-bid meetings when required
  • Request and analyze bid tabs on awarded/lost projects
  • Proactively flag risks, inconsistencies, or margin concerns
