Commercial Contracts Attorney
About The Position
The Commercial Contracts Attorney will work closely with the Assistant General Counsel. The ideal candidate will have experience reviewing, negotiating and drafting a variety of commercial contracts and vendor agreements in a law firm setting. In addition, the candidate should have the ability to work under tight deadlines, handle multiple competing priorities and provide practical legal advice. Knowledge of the systems and technology that support the Firm’s practice is preferable. Simpson Thacher & Bartlett LLP is one of the world’s leading international law firms. Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in business or related field, or a combination of education and related experience providing equivalent knowledge required
- J.D. from an accredited law school required and in good standing
- Minimum 2 years of experience in contract law and drafting.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to interact with internal stakeholders and third parties.
- Strong attentions to detail and excellent organizational skills
- Ability to follow up and track open assignments with stakeholders
- Motivated individual with an enthusiasm for learning and a positive attitude.
Nice To Haves
- Previous experience in a law firm, professional services or consulting firm is strongly desired
- Knowledge of the systems and technology that support the Firm’s practice is preferable.
Responsibilities
- Assist with reviewing, negotiating and drafting a wide variety of commercial contracts and vendor agreements (including software licenses, hardware, hosted services, consulting and recruiting)
- Conduct due diligence reviews of vendors.
- Ability to handle confidential information and material with the highest degree of discretion and professional responsibility
- Participate in continuing education and conduct research to advance competencies
- Ability to work under tight deadlines, handle multiple competing priorities and provide practical legal advice
- Perform other duties as assigned
