About The Position

WCF, an "A" rated insurance carrier growing across the western United States, is looking to add a Commercial Claims Assistant to our expanding team. We are seeking someone who can demonstrate WCF Insurance values: doing the right thing, being great at your job, and helping others succeed. Position The Commercial Claims Assistant is an entry‑level role that supports the commercial claims team by serving as the first point of contact for new claims. This position involves speaking with customers, gathering and documenting claim information, managing minor claims, and coordinating basic repairs or estimates, while referring more complex claims to the appropriate adjusters. This role is an excellent opportunity for individuals with a customer service background who are interested in beginning or growing a career in insurance claims. This is a full-time, non-exempt (hourly) position that works out of WCF's Sandy, Utah headquarters. Pay range for this position is $20.67 to $24.28 per hour, based upon experience and education.

Requirements

  • High school diploma required.
  • At least two years of customer service experience.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in using computer systems and software applications.
  • Excellent organizational and time management abilities.
  • Consistent demonstration of exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Internal candidates should have acceptable job performance, 6 months in their current position, and must notify their current supervisor that they have applied for the position.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate's degree preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Review and process incoming claims, ensuring all necessary documentation is complete and accurate.
  • Provide prompt and courteous telephone support, making every effort to assist the caller.
  • Support claims adjusters by making initial contact with customers and other involved parties.
  • In certain cases, investigate claims by contacting claimants, witnesses, or medical providers to take initial statements or gather necessary information.
  • Manage minor claims, ensuring they are resolved promptly and efficiently.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all claims activities.
  • Assist with improvements to claims processes and procedures.
  • Coordinate with repair professionals to obtain estimates and ensure quality repairs.
  • Direct complex claims to the appropriate claims adjuster.
  • Maintain a professional demeanor when interacting with internal and external contacts.
