Comcast's Technology, Product & Experience (TPX) organization designs, develops, and supports innovative products and services that power broadband, wireless, video, and voice experiences for millions of customers across the U.S. and Europe. TPX also ensures the performance and reliability of Comcast's network and cloud infrastructure, enabling seamless connectivity and digital experiences. Within TPX, the Cybersecurity organization (CCS) plays a critical role in protecting Comcast's platforms, services, and customer data. The IoT Security Engineering team, part of this cybersecurity group, focuses on building secure frameworks for connected devices across Comcast's ecosystem. This includes technologies such as Public Key Infrastructure (PKI), Blockchain, Secure Elements, and Cryptographic Access Tokens. As a co-op on this team, you'll work alongside experienced engineers who are passionate about mentoring and helping students grow their technical skills. You'll be part of a collaborative environment that values innovation, learning, and real-world impact. As a Co-op on the IoT Security Engineering team, you'll gain hands-on experience working with technologies like Public Key Infrastructure (PKI), cryptographic libraries, and secure hardware.You'll collaborate with experienced engineers across Comcast who are committed to mentorship and technical growth. In this role, you'll contribute to the development of secure systems for smart devices and help build the next generation of secure IoT platforms. You'll have the opportunity to: Learn how cryptographic systems are applied in real-world environments. Contribute to tools and frameworks that support secure device onboarding and communication. Participate in open-source collaboration and industry-wide security initiatives.

Requirements

  • Currently pursuing a bachelor's degree from Drexel University, with a cooperative learning track.
  • Available to work 40 hours per week for 6 months starting March 30, 2026, through September 18, 2026.
  • Authorized to work in the United States with no current or future sponsorship needs
  • Available to report in-person to the work location on the job posting

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with IoT platforms or connected device ecosystems.
  • Basic understanding of cryptographic principles such as encryption, hashing, and digital signatures.
  • Experience with programming languages such as C/C++, Python, Java, or Go
  • Exposure to blockchain technologies or distributed ledger systems.
  • Knowledge of network protocols (e.g., TLS, MQTT) used in IoT environments.
  • Hands-on experience with Linux-based development or RTOS environments.
  • Familiarity with secure coding practices and threat modeling.
  • Experience using Git or other version control systems in collaborative projects.
  • Preferred Majors: Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the development and testing of security features for IoT devices.
  • Contribute to codebases involving cryptographic protocols and secure communications.
  • Help write scripts and tools to automate testing and data collection.
  • Participate in team meetings, code reviews, and technical discussions.
  • Document your work and share findings with the team.
