Position Description: Assists in performing helpdesk support (e.g., troubleshoots software, hardware & communication problems involving District equipment; performs simple programming tasks; performs helpdesk duties). Unpacks, sets up & configures servers & microcomputers & assists in troubleshooting same. Provides support in performing routine system maintenance (e.g., assists in installing cables & network interface controllers (NICs), performs minor printer & system repairs, monitors performance). Responds to user inquiries & assists users in resolving software & hardware problems (e.g., corrects hardware malfunctions, restores files). Under direct supervision of Network Administration Supervisor, assists in monitoring & maintaining data communications/telecommunications systems equipment & performs network support. Repairs & maintains electronic data processing & voice data communications equipment (e.g., terminals, modems, printers, telephones). Assists with installation & maintenance of computer systems (e.g., networks, terminals, file servers, plot servers, network printers, tape library), software applications (e.g., Microsoft Office programs), computer equipment & peripherals (e.g., printers, CD-ROMs, high-speed scanners, modems, NICs, wireless NICs). Assists in installation & testing of local area network (LAN) drops & phone lines at remote locations. Receives training in & performs specific technical tasks (e.g., analysis & programming of new & existing personal computer (PC) &/or mainframe applications). Downloads & uploads data between PCs & mainframe. Uses personal computer (e.g., Visual Studio, HyperText Markup Language (HTML). Active Server Pages (ASP), SharePoint Designer) to modify &/or test computer software & develop data processing application programs tailored for individual users. Assists in development & maintenance of District website (e.g., works with various offices to create outlines of information to be used internally & externally, scans & formats documents for web inclusion). Performs miscellaneous duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Must currently be enrolled in a college or university and in good academic standing.
  • Must show proof of valid driver's license in order to operate state vehicle.
