About The Position

Applicants may be disqualified if all information requested has not been provided • School Name • Degree Program & Major • Anticipated Graduation Date • Current Academic Level (such as Junior, Senior, Grad School) • Overall GPA - 4.0 scale Leave of Absence supports the HR team in administering family and medical employee leaves. This role provides administrative and clerical assistance while gaining hands-on experience in leave compliance, documentation management, and employee communications. The intern works under direct supervision and does not independently manage complex leave cases.

Requirements

  • Be at least 18 years of age before the start of the summer intern program (Mid-May)
  • Be enrolled in a degreed program that supports the company’s business requirements. Typically in the following areas: • Engineering • Business • Finance • Information Technology
  • Have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher (Most recent college transcripts will be required and must be uploaded in the system at the time of application)
  • Attend a college/university (undergraduate or graduate program) in the fall following the internship
  • Successfully complete a criminal background investigation, physical and a hair follicle drug screen
  • Work a 40-hour work week for a minimum of 10 weeks during the summer.
  • An adequate email address is required when applying, receiving communication, and obtaining employment offers.

  • Able to work year-round Monday-Friday, 7:30 A.M. - 3:30 P.M on-site in Pascagoula.
  • Currently pursuing a degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • High attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Interest in employment law, benefits, or HR compliance

Responsibilities

  • Assist with intake of leave requests and documentation.
  • Track and update leave cases in HRIS and case management systems.
  • Prepare template correspondence and routine leave notices under supervision.
  • Monitor shared HR inbox and route inquiries appropriately.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential employee records.
  • Help audit files to ensure required documentation is complete.
  • Support compliance reporting and basic data tracking (FMLA, ADA, etc.).
  • Assist with updating job aids, FAQs, and internal process documents.
  • Provide administrative support for return-to-work documentation processing.
  • Participate in team meetings and training related to leave administration.
