About The Position

This position will work with students in grades 9-12 to develop individual plans for college and career readiness. CCR Advocates will work directly with families and students to discuss test scores- course selection- future plans- grades- attitudes- soft skills and every aspect of helping students prepare for life after high school.

Requirements

  • Teaching or equivalent license.
  • Ability to read- analyze- and interpret general business periodicals- professional journals- technical procedures- or governmental regulations.
  • Ability to write reports- business correspondence- and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to present information effectively and respond to questions from groups of managers- clients- customers- and the general public.
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts- interest- commissions- proportions- percentages- circumference- and volume.
  • Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
  • Experience in a variety of Macintosh and PC software applications.
  • Experience in researching on the internet.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written- oral- diagrammatic- or schedule form.

Nice To Haves

  • License in school counseling or social work preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct a minimum of two conferences yearly with assigned students and families.
  • Has a working knowledge of PowerSchool and how to obtain grades- test scores and log entries from this database.
  • Plans- organizes and participates in College and Career sessions.
  • Maintains and organizes files on each student related to their progress toward becoming college and career ready- including long term course planning and selection.
  • Communicates regularly with counselors- administrators and other staff.
  • Directs students and families to other staff and resources as necessary.
  • Plans- organizes and participates in college visits for students and families.
  • Be knowledgeable and up-to-date on college and career options.
  • Has a detailed understanding of Navigation 101 and how it can assist parents and students.
  • Plans- organizes and participates in career days.
  • Makes recommendations to administration on areas pertaining to college and career readiness.
  • Participates in training and professional development as mutually agreed upon with administration.
  • Refers students and families to appropriate job shadowing and placement opportunities.
  • Explains district provided college and career assessments and resources to students and families.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the Director of Instruction or Superintendent.
  • Abide by state statutes- school board policies and regulations.
  • Attend meetings and performs duties as assigned by administrators or supervisors.
  • Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students- equipment- materials- and facilities.
  • Maintain accurate- complete- and correct records as required by law- district policy and administrative regulation.
  • Serve on committees as assigned.
  • Remain current on instructional practices in education. (e.g. instructional technology)
