About The Position

We are seeking a Financial Recovery Manager to manage all assets of the Financial Recovery Department including delinquent and charged off loans, repossessed collateral, real estate and other owned inventory. Ensures that the collection activity for delinquent accounts and loans is compliant with internal policies and state and federal regulations. Manage department staff and inspire team to achieve goals by creating a highly engaged and collaborative team.

Requirements

  • 5-10 Years of Collections experience, including leadership experience
  • College degree or equivalent; related experience and/or training; or the equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Must possess knowledge of laws, regulations, and procedures concerning collection activities and delinquency control.

Responsibilities

  • Assign, monitor and supervise the workload in the department, communicate and monitor the requirements to staff in collections procedures. Train and mentor staff on collection techniques to resolve issues positively. Establish and maintain effective employee relations.
  • Establish and monitor effective control procedures for late and/or delinquent or potentially delinquent loans. Determine when to charge to reserve. Develop and review accurate reporting procedures on collection activities. Prepare and analyze reports for senior management and/or the Board.
  • Review accounts where action beyond routine collection procedures must be approved or implemented. Handle complex situations. Resolve difficult or non-routine members issues. Review all accounts that are to be written off as uncollectible.
  • Authorize legal proceedings. Review default notices, surrender notices, bankruptcy procedures, foreclosure notices, etc. for accuracy and completeness. Review all billings from attorneys retained for collection work.
  • Ensures that credit and collection policies, procedures, practices and documentation meet federal and state regulations. Continually evaluates the member service of departmental staff to ensure that both Credit Union philosophy and policy are meeting or exceeding expectations
  • Assist in the preparation, implement and supervise the budget for the department that is consistent with the overall strategic plan and budget of the Credit Union.
