About The Position

Founded in 1958, Community Blood Center (CBC) has served Kansas and Missouri for more than 65 years, delivering more than 150,000 lifesaving blood products annually to 70+ hospitals, EMS and healthcare partners. CBC serves as a vital community lifeline dedicated to helping patients and advancing global public health. The Collection Supervisor assumes responsibility for supervising staff in collections at fixed and/or mobile sites, monitoring activities for SOP compliance, serving as a resource for donor eligibility and phlebotomy complications, and meeting production goals. This role also involves delegating duties, coordinating with mobile chairpersons, promoting a positive image of CBC, and performing Site Manager duties in their absence.

Requirements

  • Trained on all tasks required of Donor Care Technicians I, II, III, IV & V (as applicable).
  • Must be able to confidently communicate and interpret intermediate information in English to all members of the public and staff.

Responsibilities

  • Assumes responsibility for supervising the staff in collections at fixed and/or mobile sites.
  • Monitors the collection activities to ensure compliance with Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Serves as resource for donor eligibility and phlebotomy complications.
  • Responsible for meeting projected production goals.
  • Delegates duties to staff.
  • Coordinates with mobile chairperson and volunteers.
  • Promotes positive image of CBC to community.
  • Performs duties of Site Manager in their absence.
  • Functions as a resource for staff in regard to donor criteria and vein suitability.
  • Functions as a resource for donor questions and concerns.
  • Functions as a resource for difficult venipunctures.
  • Reviews QC documentation.
  • Ensures staff compliance with SOPs.
  • Determines job assignments, breaks and mealtimes for staff.
  • Handles or seeks help for emergencies that occur.
  • Ensures compliance with CBC safety policies and procedures.
  • Maintains confidentiality of personal information regarding donors and staff.
  • Responds to staffing problems, donor/staff complaints, and counsels donors and staff as needed.
  • Provides written evaluation of staff in regard to performance and compliance with SOPs.
  • Provides documentation when needed regarding staff behavior and/or attendance problems.
  • Promotes customer service and a positive image of CBC to the community.
  • Maintains prompt and regular attendance.
  • Responsible for responding to temperature/humidity alarms (as applicable).
  • Responsible for maintaining and reconciling monthly equipment inventory (as applicable).
