About The Position

Stryten Energy manufactures proprietary and custom injection molding products serving the industrial lead battery, automotive and consumer markets. Stryten Energy is expanding battery poly manufacturing and recycling output to help solve industry-wide supply constraints. This position is responsible for maintaining the operational readiness and maximizing the production efficiency of any of the multiple stations tooling Cold Form Department production equipment. This will include setting up, running production, troubleshooting, and making repairs to this Cold Form equipment and tooling. The Cold Header Technician will also be responsible for maintaining the established quality standards required by Stryten Energy and customer needs.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Previous experience operating and setting up cold heading machines.
  • Must be a well-motivated self-starter and work well with others without supervision, showing professionalism in all areas of daily work.
  • Proven satisfactory work history (attendance and performance), which must be maintained.
  • Must be able to be trained on how to read and understand the Stryten engineering blueprints.
  • Must function well in a team environment and must communicate well with others.
  • Must be able to maintain efficient operation of the Cold Form Press Lines to manufacture quality parts at the standard manufacturing rate.
  • Must be able to set up the Cold Form Lines for different production parts, including installation of press tooling, saw tooling, and thread roller / hole punch tooling, and adjustment of all machine parameters on the entire line.
  • Must be able to maintain efficient operation of the Extrusion and Casting Lines to manufacture quality parts at the standard manufacturing rate.
  • Must be willing to learn how to set up the Casting and Extrusion Lines for different production parts.
  • Must be willing to learn the process of installation of extrusion tooling and adjustment of machine parameters.
  • Must have excellent mechanical skills and be good with hand tools (Test required).
  • Must be proficient at using a personal computer running Windows, including opening, closing, and saving files.
  • Must be proficient and accurate using Go/No go Gages, Inside/Outside micrometer, Vernier, Dial Indicator, height Gage, Telescoping Gage (Test required).
  • Must become proficient on the job to be able to diagnose problems with flow controls, grippers, slides, fittings, and hoses and must be able to replace these components as needed to keep machinery operating properly.
  • Must be able to diagnose problems with mechanical components such as belts, pulleys, keys, chains, sprockets, and clutches and must be able to replace these components as needed to keep machinery operating properly.
  • Must be able to maintain efficient operation of the Cold Heading Lines to manufacture quality parts at the standard manufacturing rate.
  • Must be able to set up the Cold Heading Lines for different production parts, including installation and adjustment of punches and dies, machine parameters, transfer system, and thread rolling operation.
  • Must be able to operate a Direct Computer Controlled CMM for measuring parts, including running existing programs, calibrating probes, and setting up CMM fixtures.
  • Must have completed forklift driver training program.
  • Must show flexibility and readiness for innovations to move the company forward.
  • Must have own hand tools as determined by management.
  • Qualifications must be gained six (6) months after training has begun in any skill offered.
  • Must have the ability and willingness to work overtime on an as needed/required basis in order to complete work in process and communicate with other shifts.

Responsibilities

  • Take immediate action to correct unsafe conditions to keep all team members safe and get manufacturing equipment operational as soon as possible.
  • Produce parts on any of the multiple station tooling Cold Header production lines, including maximizing production efficiency, ensuring compliance with quality control requirements, and performing tooling setup and changeover while minimizing downtime.
  • Diagnose any/all problems affecting the efficient running of any of the multiple station tooling Cold Header production lines and complete the fix/solution to minimize downtime, scrap, etc.
  • Run CMM checks as needed to ensure quality product.
  • Aid with training and changeovers on Cold Form lines as needed.
  • Make corrections and/or repairs to keep equipment running efficiently, including hydraulic and pneumatic circuits (repair/replacement of components), electrical circuits, and mechanical components such as clutches, belts, gears, chains, sprockets, etc.
  • Complete all required production and quality control daily paperwork.
  • Communicate with Cold Form Technicians, Cold Form Tool and Machine repair person(s), Cold Form Manufacturing Engineer, and Cold Form manager when problems and issues with production arise.
  • Communicate verbally and/or in writing with incoming or preceding personnel on status of all equipment, parts, manufacturing or quality problems.
  • Train any new or backup Cold Form Department employees.
  • Complete preventative maintenance tasks as assigned by Production Management.
  • Report unsafe conditions to the Supervisor for immediate action.
  • Perform duties not listed when production requirements dictate or when there is not enough work in the regular classification to fill out the workday, as assigned by the Supervisor.
  • Responsible for the development and implementation of manufacturing methods ensuring the highest quality, lowest cost, lowest scrap and optimum capacity.
  • Attend all Management meetings and training sessions, safety committee meetings, and all employee meetings as required by upper management.
  • Follow all ISO 9000 requirements, including creating and maintaining ISO documents.
  • Perform other responsibilities as assigned to meet the needs of the business.
