Performs a variety of duties related to the management and operations of organizational development of the cancer registry and works collaboratively with the leadership to maintain ongoing accreditation with the American College of Surgeons (ACS), Commission on Cancer (CoC) approvals program. The Education and Quality Assurance Manager manages the day-to-day operational aspects of the cancer registry by directing the case finding activities and abstracting for 3,000 cases annually to ensure high quality, timely and complete registry data. Directs, monitors, interprets, and markets cancer registry data to administrators, Multidisciplinary Care Teams, physicians, and other departments for the purposes of monitoring adherence to national treatment guidelines and measuring patient outcomes. Works collaboratively with a physician member of cancer committee to conduct a study to ensure quality outcomes through validation that cancer treatment planning conforms with evidence based national treatment guidelines. Oversees quality assurance of cancer registry data by conducting monthly audits on work performed by the cancer registrars. Calculates percentage of accuracy and discusses findings with each cancer registrar to ensure understanding of guidelines and directs correction updates within the cancer registry database. Responsible for developing and providing complex education support relating to the collection and reporting of cancer registry data as set forth by Louisiana state law and in accordance with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention-National Program for Cancer Registries (NPCR), the North American Association of Central Cancer Registry (NAACCR), CoC, and Surveillance, Epidemiology, and End Results Program (SEER) standards and practices. Leads, researches, develops, and evaluates cancer registration training and education programs and material, including the formulation of learning objectives and plans. Oversees weekly tumor conference planning, including monitoring and reporting activity to the cancer committee to demonstrate compliance with standard 2.5 Multidisciplinary Cancer Case Conference Responds, coordinates, and adheres to all requests by set deadline as established by the LTR.
