About The Position

This position is responsible in assisting with monitoring, supporting, and training Trap Team Members engaged in attending to and caring for hens and roosters; inspecting eggs to ascertain quality and fitness for incubation by performing the below duties. Other duties may be assigned.

Requirements

  • Must have at least 6 months of consecutive work history with one employer and no additional job gaps in employment greater than 6 months in the past 36 months. If applicant has been laid off or providing child or elder care, the employment gap will be increased to 18 months.
  • Previous work history will not apply to applicants who have been full time students consecutively for the last 36 months.
  • Rehire criteria is a minimum waiting period of 180 days.
  • Rehire Rule of no more than 3 times worked at Cobb/Tyson Foods.
  • Applicants must reside in the United States to be considered for an interview.
  • Must be willing to sign an agreement to avoid any avian species (chickens, ducks, birds, etc.).
  • Must be willing to sign and abide by the Company Biosecurity and Company Animal Welfare Guidelines.
  • Must use safe lifting techniques.
  • Must regularly stoop/bend to floor level repeatedly.
  • Must regularly lift and/or move up to 30 pounds to move items such as feed buckets, tools (such as leaf blowers), etc.; may be required to occasionally push/pull items such as feed barrels.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand the majority of the shift on multiple floor surfaces (i.e. concrete floors, shavings, etc.); walk, sit; use hands to handle or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; balance, stoop or bend repeatedly, climbing (ladder usage); talk and hear; drive a vehicle within the farm complex.
  • Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision; distance vision; color vision; peripheral vision; depth perception; and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Team member is expected to follow all applicable safety policies and procedures. These include but are not limited to Hazard Communication, Respiratory Protection, LOTO and Personal Protective Equipment.
  • Team member is expected to identify, address and mitigate safety related risks.

  • Applicants with previous agricultural or production experience will be considered preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Feeding, watering and weighing birds according to schedules.
  • Cleaning and disinfecting waterers, changing nest pads, dusting houses, maintaining feed room in a clean state and performing other routine housekeeping duties.
  • Recording information according to instructions such as egg numbers (Line and source on the egg), bird weight, medications, feed intake, and mortality.
  • Inspecting poultry for diseases and removing weak, ill, injured and dead poultry from flock.
  • Collecting eggs from floor level trap nests, releasing hens from nests and roosters from male pens, and recording number of eggs laid by each hen.
  • Recording number of floor eggs and working to eliminate these by training hens to use nests.
  • Lead positions must currently have and consistently maintain 4 attendance points or less.
  • Other duties, responsibilities, and activities may change or be assigned at any time with or without notice, such as; monitoring and adjusting feed, water, lighting, and ventilation systems; charting fertility percentages and changing males with Manager’s approval; sanitizing of breakroom and vehicles; assisting manager with scheduling due to absent Team Members; properly euthanizing weak, ill, or injured birds in accordance with company policy.
