McClatchy South Carolina is hiring a coastal climate reporter to provide project-level coverage of environmental issues along the coast of South Carolina, North Carolina and Georgia. The position will focus on accountability stories and solutions journalism, writing stories that hold leaders and institutions accountable while highlighting success stories. You'll teach our readers about things such as sea-level rise, beach erosion, flood insurance and changes in hurricane behavior. This opportunity is a one-year grant-funded position with the potential to roll over. The reporter will work primarily with McClatchy's South Carolina newsrooms in Columbia, Hilton Head and Myrtle Beach and will live in one of these markets. Coverage will include breaking news and mid-level enterprise work, but the ideal candidate will be able to show a proven history of major project work. Master engaging multimedia storytelling Demonstrate speed, competitiveness and SEO savvy Work well in a team environment.
